Sunday Sabbath – in the beginning when creation created the earth; the sun and the moon and the stars; the land and the seas; the plants and animals and humans; in the beginning when it was all created there was time for rest. Rest and reflection. This is called the Sabbath. It wasn’t so much that God was worn out and tired like we get at the end of the week, but it was more like:
Ahhh, look, at the beauty. Look at the miracles; Enjoy this moment for it is Good.
Sunday (or whatever day you choose) Sabbath is vital to our spirits and souls as much as our bodies. How many of us run too hard, work too long, push too fast? How many of us really take the time for stillness?
I know even me, this morning as I was sitting, instead of simply sitting, I got on Facebook and started scrolling. While that is fun and sometimes entertaining and certainly mind-less activity at times; it is not Sabbath.
Sabbath for me is quiet, it is sitting still for time. It is easy conversation, going with the flow. It is paying attention to that which is greater than me. The sun, the moon, the trees, the waters. It is noticing the birds and squirrels and chipmunks. It is watching at wonder at the hummingbirds and butterflies. It is basking in the glory of the beauty of the moment.
Even if life happens to be hard at the moment, or even if it is showing up exquisitely, sitting in Sabbath allows the time and space for the body to relax, the soul to catch up and the Spirit to simply Be. It can be like putting your mind in a time-out. No thinking today. Some light daydreaming perhaps, but no figuring it out, no struggle in thought.
Lay it down for today and look around at something you don’t normally notice. I’m not talking about the dust on the window sill, or the dirt on the floor. Look outside, look within. Look for the beauty of Spirit.
It’s Sunday Sabbath time – what will you do to nurture your Spirit, Soul, Body and give your mind a rest today?
It’s spring and you know what that means – or you do if you had a mother that threw open the windows at the first sign of daffodils blooming and proclaimed, “It’s spring cleaning time.”
It’s time to do the deep cleaning of the baseboards and ceiling fans, dusting the cobwebs of winter out into the fresh sunshine. It’s time to move the furniture to clean under it more thoroughly. It’s time to go through the closets and cupboards releasing anything we haven’t used and cleaning the bottoms.
Spring cleaning for the soul, what’s that? Just like the spring cleaning of your home and closets; just like the spring clean-up of your yard – this is time to care for your soul. It’s time to dig up the weeds, thatch and aerate the ground to make way for new growth.
It’s time for a deep alignment with that which is more important now. It’s letting go of the old, the old clothes that no longer fit; the old dust and dirt and grime that comes in living life. The old plants that are no longer flourishing to be replaced with new starter plants; with new seeds with new thoughts, ideas, beliefs. Its time to clean. It’s time to shed. It’s time to soar.
Paraphrasing from the Japanese way to clear clutter, take everything out of the closet and dump in into the middle of the room. Put your hands on every item and ask yourself if you love it; does it bring you joy; do you use it on a regular basis?
If it brings you joy, if you love it or if you use it, keep it; otherwise let it go.
Let’s do the same process with our beliefs, our habits and our mindset. We call this Spiritual Spring Cleaning for the Soul. There is no judgment here, only curiosity. What if we pulled everything out into the light and looked at it. If we like it, it brings us joy we can spiff it up a bit and replace it consciously. If it does not bring us joy, or we don’t love it, let it go!
What if it is as simple as that? It can be! And just like with spring cleaning of your house or yard, it helps to have a buddy, someone to ask the questions, to guide the process, so you don’t get stuck in a rabbit hole.
I’ve been in a spring cleaning of my own the past few weeks. I was moving along quite nicely in a direction that seemed appropriate, even though I wasn’t enjoying it. Something happened and that directed ended with a jolt, giving me the impetus and space to regroup and reframe. This has led me to a re-defining of my work in the world. This has led me to a letting go and surrendering of yet more layers of beliefs and patterns.
What is happening as a result is a deeper clarity about who I am in the world, a claiming of my personal magical powers and a realization that is changing everything. It’s a letting go, a deep clean. I took the time and space to surrender and release all that no longer serves me; all that has been handed to me that isn’t really aligned with me.
In the time and space I’m allowing myself, I quite striving so hard, I quit trying so hard to figure it out, to make that one piece of the puzzle fit into a space it was not meant to fit into. I aerated my consciousness so my roots could breathe, so my foundation could receive the water and nutrients necessary to flourish. I thatched, removing dead, old plant life in the forms of expectations and old fruits.
Spring cleaning is not only for the spring, but since it is spring it’s been a perfect time to dive in and clear out. I’m feeling refreshed and clean myself. My integrity is spot on; my passion is bubbling up again in places it was drying out. I’m alive with possibilities.
You know how good it feels in your house after the deep clean! You know how beautiful your yard is after the spring clean-up.
Imagine how fresh, sparkly and cleaned out you will be after a spiritual spring cleaning!
Take it on! If you would like some assistance or guidance, schedule a free consult call and we can take a quick look, identify an area that is calling for cleaning and begin the process of letting go of the old and embodying a new fresh you!
Your greatest relationship is the one you have with yourself. Build it. Strengthen it. Prayer yourself. Share what makes you proud.
Your beaming delight will help others shift from a glass-half-empty-thinking to “Heck, I’m pretty awesome too!”
I decided to take the notice from my friend and the message from this card to heart. I’m pretty awesome and not only that, I’m content. How about you?
I feel fearful, angry, disgusted, disillusioned and baffled by what appears to be happening. I’m aware also of feelings of discouragement, unease, and troubled. That’s a lot of feelings to be processing.
I’m good at processing feelings, it is the work that I offer it the world, but wow – when I think about the millions of people who are not good at processing feelings or digging deeper, that frightened and disturbs me.
When I think about the people who are potentially at risk of something, loss of rights, loss of the progress we’ve made in recent years; frightened to leave their homes; when I think about the judgment and discrimination that appears to be heightening, I am appalled.
I want to weep for what it looks like is happening in our country today. I give myself permission to weep and then I stand again. I wipe away the tears and go deeper. What is going on at a deeper level?
There are many who say this is the bringing the darkness up so it can come into the light (think star wars); or that our system was rigged by something or someone outside of our country (or within it); or this is the hidden consciousness of a great majority of people (I can’t believe that).
Yes, I know some of you who are reading this are fans and voters of our new president. I honor you and the opinions you hold, but frankly, I do not understand. I cannot get my head around that as a possibility.
Last night on the news we saw that our new president has a favorable rating by 30% of the American people. Holy Cow – that’s low! Anyway, I digress.
What I really want to explore for me and for us is what is under the feelings that we are having. If we know that there is nothing and no one against us; that the Universe conspires in our favor; then what’s up with all the fear and anger? Are we, the light workers falling into a victim role? The place that we have for decades removed ourselves from? (I do know this as one of my foundational spiritual principles, one that I base my life on; “There is nothing and no one against me,” without a doubt – so what gives?)
When I’m caught in a feeling that won’t let me go; that does not want to move I look deeper. What is my basic fundamental need that is not being met? (I use the Non-Violent Communicationby Marshall Rosenberg model to explore Feelings and Needs)
It’s easy to get fearful or angry or a myriad of other emotions that are flying across our country right now, but let’s back off for a moment and take a deeper look. There are primary and fundamental Universal needs.
The needs that I’m yearning for and not currently experiencing in relation to the events of today are: Honesty, Safety,
Love, Freedom, Understanding, Community and Meaning. The only ones that are not being pushed into for me right now are physical survival (and I’m sure that some of my friends are being triggered by this one too,) and recreation.
If I’m anywhere typical – that’s a lot of unmet needs floating around our country right now.
For the purpose of this writing, let’s take one universal need – I’m going with honesty. (If you would like assistance in working through your experience, message me and we can chat.) Here’s how it goes, basically.
When I think about the new president taking actions blatantly across the board that threaten our culture, I feel baffled and afraid. When I hear statements coming out of his mouth that directly contradict what he’s said before, I feel angry. What I need is honesty, community and love. And so my request is for our president to consider love, to be consistent in his speaking and actions and to consider us, the people.
Since it is likely that our new president will not honor my request, I get to take it deeper into me. Using the work of Byron Katie can I turn this around? I need to consider love, be consistent in my speaking and action and to consider us, the people. I get to take a stand for meeting my own need of honesty, community and love. What can I do today to increase the experience of honesty, community and love in my life and in the world.
What are you missing? What do you need? How can we stand together to create an environment for each person on the planet and in this country to have his/her needs met? Where can you be a stand for all? How can you positively impact your own community? What can you do today to make this world a better place?
Me? I’m taking a solemn oath; one that my friend and colleague, Rev. Michelle Wittington wrote and Ray Madaghiele posted.
“I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of an Awakened Being blessed to live in the United States, and will, to the best of my ability, stand for Love, Light, and Truth, for cooperation among all for the highest good of all and for stewardship of planet earth.”
Will you join me? Being in the Office of an Awakened Being includes feeling all of our feelings, and taking action based on Love, Light and Truth.
What will you do today? Me? I’m taking a stand for myself and for all of humanity. I stand for, never against, Truth, for compassion, for kindness, for equality. I do it in the microcosm of my own world and in the macrocosm of our country and our world.
I find myself singing this famous song by Michael Jackson, Heal the World. I love this version because of the kids singing it.
Will you join me? Please share this piece, the Oath, the song – anything. Let’s join together to make it a better place; for you and for me and for the entire human race.
Take a pause, right now. Take a breath, a holy breath. A deep long, cleansing breath. Exhale. Take another and this time in your exhale, let it be long and slow and full. When you think you are at the end of your breath, exhale some more.
I love this time of year between Christmas and the New Year. I call it the time of the Holy Pause. It’s the perfect time to reflect on the year that is ending in preparation for the Burning Bowl Ceremony typically done on New Year’s Eve or the fist Sunday in January, and to prepare for the White Stone Ceremony the following week.
There are times still when I miss being in ministry – this is one of them. Oh, not so much the Christmas Eve and Christmas Sundays but I love these two ceremonies so much!
Before the Burning Bowl, in this time of Holy Pause, we take time out of the busy schedule to reflect, to look back and to feel into what your successes were and are and to look at things not quite accomplished. We take a look at the places we might have regret or disappointment and clean those up. We remember to celebrate all the blessings. In the Holy Pause, we give ourselves permission to do just that, take a pause. To move away from the typical work week and the busy of the season to simply be.
My friend and colleague Lauren McLaughlin, recently posted on facebook, this wonderful idea of Mind Grazing. Here’s her full post.
Note to self: Make time soon for Mind Grazing. Mind Grazing is one of my favorite activities because it releases my thoughts to go anywhere they want to go without judgment. A totally opposite activity to Meditation, which foster the shutting down of thought to allow for Divine Listening.- Mind Grazing encourages thought to take any path it chooses, often opening lines of creativity (extreme day-dreaming) that we consciously tend to suppress. Mind grazing can be accomplished in minutes or it can take hours but it requires both a quiet space and at least perceived privacy. Can’t wait for my next time to Mind Graze. Lauren McLaughlin on Facebook, Dec 26, 2016 at 5:48 pm.
I so totally love this idea and am practicing it this week.
Take time for yourself this week, perhaps practice a session or two of mind grazing, or read my book, Falling Into Ease! Either way, make the most out of a pause in the calendar.
For you, I wish time for a Holy Pause, time for Mind Grazing and a brilliant relaxation of your body, mind and spirit in the process!
It’s not a magic pill – it’s walking the razor’s edge.
This thing called ease. It sounds so brilliant and easy to fall into and it is to a degree. This thing called ease is also a way of life, it is being deeply connected to that which is both within you and oh so much greater than you! It becomes a quality of being, a way of life and the very foundation of your being.
When I wrote my book, Falling Into Ease I struggled. Isn’t that typical or funny or predictable? I struggled with finding the title. Then it landed. I struggled, and I worked it and I sat with possibilities and then it landed
That is ease. It’s not that we won’t have life situations or circumstances any longer, but it is that we have new ways to walk through them.
Others talk about being enlightened or awakened; the quantum field or the Christ consciousness; being in the flow or alignment with the Universe. I call all of that Ease. It’s a simple term. An acronym for Effortless Awareness of Spirit and Excellence.
Being effortlessly aware give you a presence and a power. Being effortlessly aware of spirit and excellence gives you freedom, a freedom that comes from acceptance rather than resistance.
Picture this. We are human beings on a spiritual journey through this thing we call life. We are given human form and infinite capacity to grow and receive; to see and to act. However, we as the beautiful perfection of humanity that we are, have taken on “stuff” or gunk as I like to call it. So here is this beautiful sphere of you that is clear and bright. As we go through life we take on the gunk and it muddies our clarity, we take on more stuff and it becomes like a link roller brush which picks up every little piece of anything that is not clear and clean.
So now we are moving through life, covered with dust and hair and gunk. This now creates a Velcro type covering, so that we cannot move without bumping into things, without pushing people’s buttons or having our buttons pushed. We are sticky and icky. Think of walking through the desert among cactus, especially those little ones that jump out onto your body and clothing. Or the burrs that you can pick up walking through a forest. They are sticky and they hurt going in and are very difficult to get out.
The idea of falling into ease is like a deep cleaning; a removal of the burrs and cactus needles; it is a removal of the Velcro layering and a thorough washing of the windows of your soul.
Can you feel the lightness already? Just in reading this? In an instant you can fall into ease and release the gunk. In an instant you can find relief from any stress you might be in. In an instant you can drop the resistance to what is and discover light once again.
That instant can change everything from that moment forward. Or you can forget and go right back into the old patterns and ways of being again. You can pick up your link brush, Velcro covering and continue to bump into more and more discomfort and discontent. It’s ok.
To take the falling into ease process to heart means ultimately the clearing and cleaning of the gunk. One step at a time, unless you get to the core, the place of origination of the pattern. For today, however, take the first step.
Fall into ease as many times as you can. Set the timer on your phone or watch for every hour. Every time the sound goes off stop right then and notice what you are feeling, doing, thinking and being. If it is less than ease, take a breath. Stand still and consciously relax your body. Consciously set down the thoughts or feelings and walk away from them, at least for a moment or two. Feel your feet on the ground and look up to the sky.
Notice that the combination of earth and sky takes you out of yourself and your life into something much bigger and more cosmic. Stay here for even 60 seconds. You can take a minute out of your busy day, I know you can! Stretch your body, breathe deeply. Nice. Notice what you notice and expand the good feelings, the peace, the quiet, the relaxed moment.
The more often you do this simple practice the quicker you will be to notice when you are not in ease and remember to take 60 seconds to find it again.
With ease comes clarity, freedom, fulfillment and authentic action. With each comes a deep conviction that everything is going to work itself out alright. It’s going to be ok. You are going to get through this. With ease comes a visceral knowing that you are love, you are loved, you are enough and you are worthy of all the best.
I’ll be standing here holding the doorway to ease open for you. Go ahead, fall right in. I invite you; I challenge you; I welcome you!
I’d love to hear your comments, so please post below!
Commitment. That’s what I want to talk about today. This is my 30th blog article in 30 days. It’s been amazing, awesome and some days not what I wanted to do. Yet, in making the commitment I have been stretched in surprising ways.
I’m come out of my small closet of not being seen. I’ve become visible. I’ve learned at a deeper level to bring more of myself to the table. I’ve exposed the good, the bad and the ugly in my posts. And through it all, I’m being changed.
Since I began this challenge 30 days ago, I am making a very clear change in my business, I’ll be offering a high-end VIP program very soon. I’ve allowed (or stretched) myself to reveal more of my dream, I discovered the places that I talk myself out of my dreams and how I can minimize what I would love.
I’ve clarified new layers of my vision and released others. There is a famous quote often attributed to Goethe, but is actually William Hutchinson Murray:
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.
I found ways in myself where I obviously was not committed because I had the tendency to draw back, to state a big expansive dream and then immediately draw back from it, subtly making it smaller, or more reasonable, or talking myself out of it because it would be too much work, or who do I think I am?
I’m experiencing a sense of “the moment one definitely commits onseself, then Providence moves too.” In a deeper commitment, in a deeper understanding and standing commitment, everything changes.
I’ve been teaching a particular course repeatedly and discovered deeper and deeper layers of the materials and of my understanding of them. I noticed this. The first time I taught it I was so deeply committed, I was going to do all of the homework I assigned, do all of the study, all of the layers of commitment and it was fabulous. The second time, I was familiar with the platform we were using and had a totally different experience of the course. Even as teacher, it worked me differently. The third time, each with new and additional people to the original core group, I found myself more teaching than taking and still was hugely impacted.
Now, in this fourth offering, I’ve noticed a deeper commitment in me to the works. I noticed that I’ve embodied the materials in a new way. It now lives in me. I now am speaking and being with the authority of one who has integrated the universal principles. I knew the material, I taught the materials for years, I lived the materials. But now, there is something different in me around them.
It is as if I’ve entered into the 4th or even 5th dimension with them. I remember years ago when I did some spiritual work that turned me inside out. I’d been preaching on Sunday’s for over a decade with the message that God is within, that Love is the answer and that the heart is the pathway to the Universe. I attended a weekend that blew my circuits and my mind. The following weeks, I could hardly speak the words I had been using didn’t have the same meaning and at the same time, it was as if I suddenly had the experience of that which I’d been speaking and hadn’t even known that I didn’t know it.
Does that make sense? It didn’t to me, at the time. But it was such a deep and profound opening and awakening, a quantum leap from where I thought I was to where I found myself that evertying changed. That’s happening again for me, right now in my business. My client work is quickening again, my programs are shifting and I’m so very thrilled with where its all headed.
Given that, my next program is a high-end program designed for high- influencers and world changers. It will be the new foundation.
Given all that… Between now and the end of the year, I have three available spaces in my 1:1 program. If it’s something you’ve thought about, now is the time. Let’s hop on the phone for a quick exploration to determine if we are a great fit to work together. No obligation, just exploring. Click here for my scheduler.
What is it that you most desire? Commit to that. Do not back down, do not be dissuaded. Simply commit to it and to doing whatever it takes to align yourself with your dream.
Commit to love, commit to kindness, commit to living all out! What is your commitment? Tell me so I can support you in living it!
It breaks my heart to see so many people, especially around the holidays that don’t know these basic and fundamental truths. I have such deep compassion and understanding for the pain it causes.
In my 16+ years as spiritual coach and minister, I’ve seen it all. I’ve witnessed the deepest, darkest, ugliest moments in a person’s life. (I’ve also witnessed the brilliant, expansive and joyful moments too, but those are easier to process than the polarity.)
There is nothing that you could tell me about what you’ve done, what you are thinking or what you’ve experienced that will cause me to judge you. I know life on this planet can be a bear. And I know how to guide you through to a lighter place.
Recently in one of my group programs we did an exercise that caused the women there to dive deep into that which has always stopped them. We followed the thread of what they thought it was to a deeper place, one that for most of them was entirely unconscious, they didn’t even know they held the belief that was revealed.
In the revealing came the releasing. In the releasing of that “thing” came the revelation of a deeper truth. It is a truth of who they are becoming, but not in the future. We then did an exercise to fully embrace and embody that which was being revealed.
One woman said the process “released a tightness in my chest and in my heart that I didn’t even know was there.” Another said she felt lighter and more in her body. Another said that it felt like there was a re-wiring going on, everything was shifting and settling differently.
What was it? The specific process was the specific process, but basically it is the willingness to look, see, tell the truth and take authentic action. It is the willingness to lay down the false beliefs and step into the unknown. It’s the willingness to look deeply at what you belief and unravel the beliefs that no longer serve you.
You don’t do that with your head or your logic, you do that by realizing the Truths. You are enough. You have had life experiences that have caused you to think and be certain ways, but it does not have to define you moving forward.
You do that by healing the less than places and entering into the Truth. The thing is you can’t do it alone. You need a spiritual guide because you can’t see what you can’t see. But I can. I see you. In your wholeness and in your brokenness. I can see the patterns, the cords that keep you bound up and I can help you release them so you realize a deeper truth.
If you are hurting and you are all done, so ready to move on. It might be time to call me. I have three spaces to work 1:1 available now. Here’s a link to my calendar, go ahead and schedule a time. I’d be happy to chat with you, and see if we might be a fit to get you out of the dark and into the light; onto the path that will bring you joy, lightness, and more peace.
You are enough! You are Loved. You are worthy. You deserve peace and joy. You can have it!
It’s officially the Holiday Season and I’m totally arguing with reality about it. Christmas is coming right around the corner and the festivities have begun. People are busy. Shopping, partying, writing cards (do people do that anymore?).
There is an energy that quickens this time of year and it is often materialized and commercialized. But what about the deeper meaning? What is the deeper meaning for you? Is it religious? Is it spiritual? Is it about endings and new beginnings (as in calendar year). Or is it buried in a way that you don’t even know what it is for you?
For me, living in Arizona where the weather is still beautiful, it’s harder to get into the Holiday Spirit. I say Holiday’s because I honor them all. Christmas which is not only a Christian holiday, but the holiday of the United States of America and many other countries as well; and also Hanukkah and Kwanza. And of course, it feels important to mention here too, the Holiday of Commercialism, the Holiday of giving way too much and receiving way too much! It’s the Holiday season of overeating and indulging. It’s a season of being either extremely over invited and going too much or a season of depression for so many.
It’s a time where loss is more aggravated, where loneliness is more pronounced. It’s a time where those who don’t have much feel it even more than other times.
I watched a video yesterday of a police department becoming Secret Santas – giving away $100 bills to 1000 people who looked like they needed it. Many were pulled over, some were found in shelters or thrift shops. Overwhelmingly the response was tears of gratitude and disbelief. It brought me to my own tears. Here’s the link – the video was from 2014, but the emotional impact is the same.
I remember one year, my husband and I were shopping in a store like Dillards for a particular watch my son wanted that year. At the counter we met a young woman, probably in her early 30s or so. She was drooling over a particular watch that she told us she’d been coveting for months now. She would come into the store, look at it, try it on and dream of one day, maybe, perhaps having it.
A couple of threads of thoughts arise for me. One, what a perfect way to dream. I teach a prosperity course that involved exactly what she was doing – put your dream on, feel it on your skin and in your life. Look at it, get to know it, drool over it, taste it like it is happening right here and right now. So, here she was dreaming!
Second, while she was dreaming, she was also instilling in her mind that she could not have it, it would not happen for her, but she was going to continue to dream anyway! She knew exactly what she wanted and she was claiming it to anyone who would listen. She showed it to us, she showed it off. It was quite beautiful, full of glitter and glam and I recall.
In an instant my husband quietly suggested to me that we purchase it for her. I agreed immediately! So we did. We got the sales persons attention and told her what we were going to do. I don’t recall exactly how it went down, but it was something like this. The sales person told her to put it on again, go ahead put it on. She did. Then we said – It’s yours. The disbelief in her eyes showed up first, but only momentarily. Then she lit up like a Christmas tree. She cried, she yelled, she screamed. She jumped up and down, she danced through the aisles. She whooped and hollered for 10 minutes. She was stunned and she was definitely ready to receive! She hugged us, she thanked us, she cried some more. She told us more of her story and hugged us some more. Her disbelief showed up again with wonder. Why would we do that for her, a woman we don’t know? Then she shifted right back to, “Oh, I don’t care! I Love it! I’m so happy to receive!”
That to me is what Christmas is all about. Giving from the heart, in a moment that so hugely impacts another. Her response then impacted me. It was brilliantly beautiful.
Juxtaposed with some of the younger generations, our grandkids to be include to get so much, too much. They are overwhelmed with the next and the next and the next. They have lots of family who all like to buy for them. I hardly want to send a gift, not because I don’t love giving to them, but because it’s too much. They don’t even appreciate each one because of the massive amounts. How can they even know what we sent? How can they distinguish?
I am not really offering any answers today, but I would like to pose a question that might positively impact your holiday season.
How would you like to feel at the end of it? What are the qualities of being that you would like to embrace through the next few weeks (and beyond)? Who do you want to show up as? Present? Relaxed? Generous in Spirit? Or stressed, pulled, overwhelmed?
Notice your response and make a commitment to yourself. Then make it your mantra. Put it at the forefront of your awareness and your schedule. Be that person.
For me, I want to flow through the holiday season as Presence and Grace; generous in spirit; to be love and kindness to everyone I meet. I desire to begin the new year relaxed, energized and ready to go. I am not waiting, but rather preparing the way right here and now.
In the new year, I’m changing my business up a bit. I’m shifting up the way I offer programs and who I serve. Stay tuned for the new, upgraded version of the Falling Into Ease programs!
Meanwhile – this Thursday is the monthly Accessing Ease Masterclass – it’s free to anyone who registers. LINK – This month we are going to Access our deeper hearts through the Open Heart Meditation. I’d love to have you join. Register and share the link!
Recently I was asked the very simple innocent question of how does the Quantum field and God relate? I had been teaching a group of ministerial students about the Silence of Meditation and had mentioned that the Silence is the Quantum field, which is God or Spirit or Creation. And there, right at the end of class arises this question.
So here it goes… First why does it matter? I don’t think it matters what we call the secret place of the most high, whether it is God, Source, Creation, Quantum Field, Silence, The Universe or any other name you might use. For me, although each description might be an aspect or facet of the Whole, it is the space in which all things are possible, the space in which all things are yet unformed. It is here that, when we access it, that our minds quiet, our hearts open and our Souls soar.
This space, which I’m calling loosely the Field, for lack of a better term, is accessed through the quiet mind and open heart and it causes the same thing.
Charles Fillmore, co-founder of the Unity Movement, spent many hours, days and years “going to Headquarters.” My friend, Rosemary Fillmore Rhea, granddaughter of Charles and Myrtle Fillmore used to tell the story of bringing friends home from school and her grandfather sitting straight up right in a chair in the living room, looking like he was asleep. Her friends would say, :what’s wrong with him?” She replied, “He’s going to headquarters.” It was a normal part of their daily life. It is said that Charles spent hours every day in the silence.
Charles describes the Silence, in the Revealing Word as: A state of consciousness entered into for the purpose of putting man in touch with Divine Mind so that the soul may listen to the “still small voice” (I Kings 19:12). When one goes into the silence he enters the “secret place of the Most High.”
James Dillet Freeman says (Article) “Charles Fillmore felt that when we find God, the Primal Cause, the intelligent Principle of the universe, we find healing, prosperity, happiness, and spiritual growth. Truth works, he taught, and he put his religion to work to help himself and to help his students. The practical Christianity he found for himself so many years ago is still practical for us today.”
Going back even further to the writings of Wallace Wattles in 1910 in The Science of Getting Rich,
“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.
A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.
Man can form things in his thought, and by impressing his thought upon formless substance can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.”
Wallace Wattles goes on to describe this thinking stuff as the formless substance.
To me, this is the quantum field, years prior to the science being discovered.
In the first book in the Bible, Genesis it is said:
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (King James Version)
In quantum physics there is described the vacuum, the field of infinite possibilities, also known as the wave. From the wave, comes the particle. The particle is the experience, the thing that we have thought.
So how are they all related? When we pray, we enter into the silence, with the intention of changing ourselves. When Charles went to Headquarters, he entered the silence in order to discover the truth of all that is.
When we work with the both quantum physics and the Wallace Wattles materials we discover the formless once again.
It is the formless substance that is the invisible field of infinite possibilities. It is the wave of the idea that creates the particles.
When we are in the Quantum field, the Field, the Presence of God, then all things are possible. This is where God is Love and Love is God. This is the point and source of all creation.
When we are able to enter into the quantum field, or the silence, we have gone beyond our minds and entered into our hearts. We have accessed the point of stillness, the point of creation, the point of infinite possibilities. Some of us call that God, others call it quantum.
So to summarize, what if God and the Quantum field are one and the same? What if they both consist only of pure love, the vibration of the Universe. In my current definition and understanding of God, they are one and the same. I’m using the terms almost interchangeably in my work now.
Would this change how you pray? Would this shift how you view your beliefs? Could you expand your mind to embrace both and?
How are you being impacted by this conversation? I’d love to know.
